Circularity & compliance / 2026–2027

Understand the rules. Document your circular actions.

Understand which rules apply to your unsold goods, material flows and packaging. See how Zerow helps you record destinations and prepare reporting evidence.

ESPR is the EU regulation on sustainable product design. It includes rules on unsold-goods disclosure and a destruction ban for certain unsold products.

CSRD is the EU directive on corporate sustainability reporting. ESRS E5 is its reporting standard on resource use and the circular economy.

WFD is the EU Waste Framework Directive. It sets priorities for preventing and managing waste.

PPWR is the EU regulation on packaging and packaging waste. Its requirements apply on phased timelines.

Green Claims is a legislative proposal on environmental claims, separate from the consumer-protection rules already described here.

01 / ESPR

Avoid destroying unsold clothing and footwear.

Destruction ban on unsold goods

Regulation (EU) 2024/1781

What it means for you

Unsold-goods disclosure is already in force. Since 19 July 2026, large enterprises in the EU may not destroy unsold clothing, clothing accessories and footwear, except under documented derogations. The binding Annex I disclosure format applies from February 2027. SME classification and group-level criteria determine scope; company size should be assessed individually.

How Zerow helps

We prioritise resale, reuse and recycling, including protected donations. We record each lot and destination for ESPR Annex I reporting.

02 / CSRD

Report your resource use.

ESRS E5 — Resource use & circular economy

CSRD / ESRS E5

What it means for you

For companies subject to CSRD, where resource use and circular economy are material, ESRS E5 covers material inflows and outflows, recycling, disposal and waste prevention. ESPR evidence can support this reporting.

How Zerow helps

Our Materials and Compliance modules connect stock movements, circular destinations and impact data to your ESRS E5 reporting.

03 / ENVIRONMENTAL CLAIMS

Support environmental claims with evidence.

Consumer protection & Green Claims

Directive (EU) 2024/825 · Green Claims proposal

What it means for you

Consumer-protection rules apply from 27 September 2026 and restrict generic environmental claims without recognised evidence. Environmental claims must be accurate and substantiated. The separate Green Claims Directive is a legislative proposal, not the source of this application date. Penalties depend on applicable consumer law and national implementation.

How Zerow helps

We document materials, origins, destinations and circular outcomes, giving your teams verifiable evidence rather than vague environmental language.

04 / WFD

Prioritise prevention, reuse and recycling.

Waste hierarchy

Waste Framework Directive · Article 4 · revised 2025

What it means for you

Prevention comes first. Once material becomes waste, the hierarchy is preparing for reuse → recycling → other recovery → disposal. The 2025 revision strengthens the framework for textiles.

How Zerow helps

We audit stocks before they become waste, then activate resale, reuse and recycling in order, with social enterprises and certified recovery partners.

05 / PPWR

Prepare for packaging requirements.

Packaging & packaging waste

Regulation (EU) 2025/40

What it means for you

PPWR applies from 12 August 2026, with recyclability and minimum recycled-content requirements phased in under the regulation’s specific timelines. Application of the regulation does not mean every future target is immediately mandatory.

How Zerow helps

We connect packaging to flakes, granules and regenerated fabrics, and support eco-design teams with circularity guidelines.
